Katrina Kaif is an Indian actress and former model who appears in Indian films typically in Bollywood films. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. She was born in Hong Kong to Muhammad Kaif and an English mother Suzanne Turquotte. Her parents divorced when she was very young. She was grown up in Hawaii and later moved to her mother’s home country England. She started off her career as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar. She received various offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme and Veet. Lakme commercial got her notice. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at price she deserved. Continuing to model was reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie “Boom” offered by non other than film maker Kaizad Gustad.
She was swamped with modeling assignments the minute she set of her foot on Indian soil, especially due to her innocent expressive face, hour glass figure and drop dead gorgeous looks. Unlike other artists from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any complexity in getting visa and not for getting its extension in India. Although her first movie “Boom” was panned by crises and shunned by audience, two other Telegu movies “Malliswari” and “Pidugu” did get her noticed. She grossed Rs. 70 lacks for Malliswari and making her top list of highest paid actresses during South Indian movie debut. Her film “Sarkar” in 2005 got moderate success. In “Main ne Pyaar Kyun Kiya” (2005) she was paired opposite Salman Khan. In 2007 Katrina Kaif appeared in her first major hit movie “Namastey London”.
In 2008 first time she played a villain role in Abbas Mustan’s hit action thriller “Race”. Her first release for 2009 was “New York” with John Abraham. At the year’s end she appeared in “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” with Ranbir Kapoor and “De Dana Dan” with Akshay Kumar. Both movies got commercial success. Kat’s first film of 2010 was Rajneeti, where she appeared opposite to Ranbir Kapoor. This movie received a blockbuster status. She is currently filming Farah Khan’s “Tees Maar Khan” with Akshay Kumar. The film is set to be released on 24 December 2010. She is one of the versatile top ten bollywood heroines.
